Program Description:
STEPS (Short-Term Exchange Program of Saitama University) is a program for international undergraduate students to study in Japan for one or two semesters.  Students enroll in intensive Japanese language courses (beginning to advanced levels) and take Japanese culture and history courses in English.

Saitama is an attractive destination for global tourists and is filled wtih traditional as well as modern Japanese culture.  Participating students have many opportunities to visit local museums and other cultural attractions to learn about the Japanese culture.

Saitama University, the only national university in Saitama Perfecture, was founded in 1949 when the Japanese educational system was reformed after WWII.  The campus is located in a quiet suburban area of Saitama City, the capital of Saitama Perfecture, about 30 km to the north of the Tokyo Metropolitan area. The university has exchange agreements with 59 universities abroad and is commited to keeping open doors to the international community.
